Smith Myers and Airborne Technologies demonstrate integrated SAR system

The Smith Myers Artemis mobile phone detection and location system was successfully demonstrated at PavCon (Police Aviation Conference Europe) 2022. PavCon – acknowledged as an annual must-attend event for Police Aviation professionals and technology innovators – was hosted this year by Airborne Technologies at their headquarter and hangar facilities at Wiener Neustadt airport, south of Vienna, Austria. Airborne Technologies have integrated Smith Myers Artemis phone location system, SHOTOVER Systems Gear, augmented reality mission software, L3Harris WESCAM MX10 EO/IR camera, and ECS, Evenlode I air to ground video link into their Vulcanair P68 demonstrator aircraft. Two “hikers” were sent out into the hills with their phones. The aircraft performed a search pattern then located both hikers at separate positions. Artemis calculated the ‘lat’ and ‘long’, Gear read this and slew the L3Harris WESCAM MX-10 to look at the location. The first hiker was located and a call was made asking them to wave to the audience back in the hanger. This was repeated for the second hiker. The Airborne Sensor Operator’s (ASO’s) screen in the aircraft was relayed by the ECS Evenlode video link to the meeting room display, viewed by the PavCon attendees. Wisk Aero partners with local government to bring AAM to Australia

Wisk Aero, a leading advanced air mobility (AAM) company and developer of the first all-electric, self-flying air taxi in the United States, is bringing the future of flight to Australia through a new partnership with the Council of Mayors South East Queensland (“Council of Mayors”). In addition to this new partnership, the company will also be expanding its physical presence in the country, with the addition of Australia-based personnel. Wisk’s entry into Australia is driven by a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council of Mayors, which will see the two organizations working together to introduce safe, sustainable, and scalable, autonomous air taxi service to South East Queensland. Garmin Pilot 10.7 adds new graphical taxiway and apron NOTAMs

Garmin is excited to announce that the latest update (v10.7) for Garmin Pilot is available now. Among many other new features, the latest update now graphically displays taxiway and apron closures on the dynamic map – as well as SafeTaxi diagrams. 10.7 update highlights: Dynamic map enhancements: Our dynamic map has been optimized to change the visibility and size of navigation data, airspace boundary depictions and airport icons as the user zooms and pans around the map. When combined, these enhancements provide a clearer view of essential navigation data, airports, airspaces and more. Graphical taxiway NOTAMs: For airports in the U.S., Garmin Pilot graphically displays taxiway and apron closures. When the NOTAM overlay is enabled, the taxiway or apron closed by the NOTAM is depicted with hashed lines and is color-coded — with alerts for taxiway and apron NOTAMs available throughout the application. Annotate on screen: Take notes, draw taxiway routings, or highlight weather that may be a concern for your upcoming flight with the new, on-screen map annotation feature — which allows up to 3 pages of saved annotations at once.
