Florida based Vertical Aviation Technologies, Inc. (VAT) manufacturer of the Hummingbird series of helicopters is seeking a strategic partner to help advance the four place S-52L helicopter into the commercial marketplace. Based on the Sikorsky S-52 design the S-52L has been redesigned with modifications, new technology, new materials, and processes, notably in terms of safety and performance. In 1987 VAT acquired the engineering data, flight test data, and drawings from Sikorsky and since 1991 has been manufacturing and selling Hummingbirds as experimental kit helicopters built by the customer with a remarkable safety record. Recently VAT acquired the Type Certificate for the S-52 from Sikorsky and plans are to amend the T.C. with the new modifications and technology and enter the commercial market. To date extensive pre-certification testing has been completed and the new S-52L design is 3D modeled. “We are seeking a strategic partner who shares our vision and can provide the needed capital,” says VAT President Brad Clark. “Since the acquisition of the Type Certificate, now is the time to enter the commercial marketplace.
